The two mushrooms were once one single hive mind but evolution bred them slowly to adapt into adapting to all sorts of environments, from the hellish bowels of The Nether to the cold mountains of the Taiga and thus a split in the Mushroom family appeared. Their carnivorous and ever-spreading nature never went away but instead of spreading as one, the two mushrooms now FOUGHT EACH OTHER over LAND!
